To put chocolate & coffee products in gym speak: the coffee flavour is usually the type to come over and bench twice your max for 20 reps while your girlfriend is watching, while the chocolate flavour is the person who's not sure if they're allowed to set foot in the weights section.

This isn't surprising, after all coffee is a strong flavour. Nor is it a bad thing. But it's great to see that PhD have taken a different approach, adding just a subtle hint of coffee to their Dark Choc Mocha Diet Whey bar.

It sits in the background and mingles with the rich dark chocolate to create an indulgent blend of flavours that you'd expect to find in a box of chocolates more than a humble protein bar.

This bar packs a lovely soft base that's peppered with crispies and topped off with a gooey chocolate layer to keep it from getting dry. At only 197 cals and with 20g protein and a tiny 0.7g sugar, this is another big win in PhD's Diet Whey range.
